You're getting closer to the sun
Your shadow's growing every day
I'm done trying to outrun you
I've gotten used to the shade
And I've been falling for so long
That I can't feel it anymore
I can pretend that I'm flying
If I forget there's a floor
And the best was yet to come, you said
I could drown in all your empty promises
You drifted further from the Earth
But your momentum ran its course
Down here in the shadows
We saw your star to the north
As you fell the fire you made lit the night
But the flames grew too large
And you screamed as the sky turned white
Your failure melted the stonework
Meteor heat-death
Nowhere to hide
And the crater you left of the planet was fourteen miles wide

Go†h Laundry

Spinning black, my oldest friend
So dark I can't tell where you begin and I end
I brought the quarters you made the soap
Together we can separate the lights from the darks and find hope
Your laundry says it all
Damp and scented shadows filling baskets in the hall
Driving nowhere we stop to eat, a table in the center of the room
Your eyes scan the menu while mine scan you
Red wine spilled all over your dress
And the cigarette that I should not be smoking has ashed on my chest
Now those sins are all absolved
Neatly folded shadows filling baskets in the hall
Black jeans and shapeless shirts
Stained in blood and wine and dirt
Wipe them clean and hang to dry
I'll never keep them nice although I try
Black jeans and shapeless shirts
Stained in blood and wine and dirt
Maybe we can all be ok?
Turn around and find another way?
